Vietnam, Cambodia to Enhance Legislative Experience Sharing

Vietnam and Cambodia are set to enhance the sharing of legislative experience and further deepen bilateral cooperation. Cambodian National Assembly President Samdech Khuon Sudary is on an official visit to Vietnam from July 27 to 29 at the invitation of Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man. This visit is expected to provide an opportunity to review bilateral cooperation, particularly parliamentary diplomacy, and chart new directions to further strengthen relations, according to Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Minh Vu. Domestically, Vietnam is focusing on implementing resolutions adopted at the third plenum of the Party Central Committee. Chairman Man highlighted that the amendment of the Law on Real Estate Business must proceed in tandem with the cleanup of rules governing land, housing, investment, planning, construction, and finance. The amendments aim to fully codify principles from the Party Central Committee’s resolution on land-law reform, ensuring a coherent, overlap-free, and more enforceable legal framework. Under a new development model, Vietnam is pursuing self-reliance, innovation, human-centricity, sustainability, and global integration. Science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence are designated as key growth drivers, with enhanced productivity and efficient resource allocation as core principles. The country is also moving towards effective governance and sustainable use of its maritime space, underpinned by these advancements. Furthermore, the Communist Party of Vietnam prioritizes maintaining a peaceful and stable environment as a prerequisite for national development. The goal is to build an orderly, civilized, secure, socially protected, and development-oriented society. Party General Secretary and State President To Lam stressed the need for a fundamental shift in the national security strategy, advocating for strengthened resilience, improved preparedness, and proactive safeguarding of the country rather than merely responding to risks after they arise. Vietnam also intends to translate the concept of "strategic cohesion" with Laos into concrete actions, working closely with its Lao counterpart. This aligns with the directives of high-ranking leaders of both Parties.
