Cambodia Proposes Enhanced Food Security at ASEAN-India Ministerial Meeting on Agriculture

High-ranking officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, led by Undersecretary of State Hong Narith, participated in the 9th ASEAN-India Ministerial Meeting on Agriculture and Forestry (9th AIMMAF) held in New Delhi, India, on September 9, 2026. Undersecretary of State Hong Narith stated that the meeting would address critical issues such as responding to climate change crises and geopolitical situations. In this context, Cambodia proposed three points for joint action: 1. Maintaining the flow of food and agricultural inputs. 2. Mobilizing sustainable investment and technical assistance in agriculture and forestry. 3. Strengthening solidarity through risk financing and agricultural energy. Cambodia welcomed the ASEAN-India Medium-Term Action Plan 2026-2030, which serves as a framework to promote food security, resilient value chains, digital and climate-resilient agriculture, post-harvest management, and forest and agroforestry sustainability. Concurrently, Cambodia encouraged more practical cooperation, including the sharing of best practices and joint research on affordable agricultural technologies. Undersecretary of State Hong Narith affirmed Cambodia's readiness to work with the ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN member states, and India in preparing and implementing the 2026-2030 Action Plan, focusing on tangible outcomes. This cooperation is expected to bring genuine and long-term benefits to farmers, food security, and collective climate resilience in the region.
