Cambodia Intensifies Crackdown on Online Scams, Prime Minister Conducts On-Site Inspection

On Saturday morning, September 5, 2026, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, personally inspected and monitored the progress at former sites of technological fraud in Koh Kong province. This follows the law enforcement forces and competent authorities' efforts to eradicate technological fraud crimes as part of the national campaign to restore security and honor for the nation and its people. Although Cambodian authorities have announced the dismantling of 86 major scam hubs and the crackdown on 663 locations, this mission is not yet complete. Competent authorities are continuing meticulous investigations, monitoring, and searches on all suspicious locations without leaving any loopholes. The government will use iron-fisted measures to cut off networks and end technological fraud entirely, leaving no room or breathing space for criminal gangs. The public and all partners are encouraged to participate by providing information about suspicious locations related to online scams, enabling authorities to intervene, crack down, and eliminate them in a timely and highly effective manner. This visit by the Prime Minister sends a clear political message to the world that Cambodia will not and will never allow any location within its territory to become a haven for online scam criminals. During the on-site inspection in Koh Kong province, the Prime Minister focused particularly on locations that were previously hot zones, especially the Tarasarkor development area and other suspicious sites in Koh Kong province, where criminal gangs had taken refuge and engaged in cross-border scamming activities. Currently, these locations have been completely shut down from illegal operations by competent forces and local authorities, with major scam centers and smaller network sites having been dismantled.
