A job fair and skills training forum in Cambodia's Battambang province attracted nearly 1,000 participants, including returning migrant workers from Thailand and local residents seeking employment and free technical and vocational training.
A job fair and vocational training forum attracted nearly 1,000 former Cambodian migrant workers from Thailand and local residents in Battambang province. The event, held from July 17-18, provided participants with job opportunities and information on social security benefits, alongside free technical and vocational training courses. According to Sun Mesa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, a total of 952 individuals attended the forum. Of these, 64 registered for technical and vocational training programs, while 188 (preliminary figure) secured employment from major companies, factories, and enterprises that participated to promote job openings and recruit workers. The spokesperson urged former Cambodian migrant workers returning from Thailand and other citizens who could not attend the forum to contact hotline number 1297 for access to job opportunities and free technical and vocational training. This initiative is part of the Cambodian government's efforts to boost domestic employment and enhance the skills of its citizens, particularly focusing on returning migrant workers to integrate them into the national economy.
