Vietnam's Tourism Recovers: Over 1 Million Visitors in First Half

Vietnam welcomed over one million foreign tourists in the first half of the year, sparking optimism for the recovery of its tourism sector and broader economic revitalization. According to the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, the number of international visitors from January to June surpassed the one million mark. This resurgence brings the sector closer to pre-pandemic levels, highlighting the crucial role of tourism in Vietnam's economy. China remained the largest source of international visitors, with 169,798 arrivals in the first half, accounting for 16.2% of total foreign tourists. Following China, Russia ranked second with 150,978 visitors, trailed by the United Kingdom, Italy, and Germany, all showing upward trends. As of July 1, Vietnam had 1,297 operational tourist accommodation facilities with a combined bed capacity of 67,868. The Vietnamese government views the recovery of the tourism industry as a key driver for economic growth and is implementing measures such as easing visa policies and intensifying promotional activities to attract more visitors.
