Long Thanh Airport Project: Irregularities Found in Subcontractor Transfers

Vietnam's Government Inspectorate has announced the findings of its inspection into policy and legal compliance during the implementation of Phase 1 of the Long Thanh International Airport construction project. According to Notification No. 2608/TB-TTCP, signed by Deputy Inspector General Le Tien Dat on July 28, irregularities were identified in the subcontractor transfer procedures for certain sections. The project is considered a national key undertaking, expected to serve as a hub for Vietnam's southern economic region and an international logistics center. However, the Inspectorate's announcement highlights challenges in transparency and the thorough enforcement of legal compliance within large-scale infrastructure development. Under Vietnam's one-party system, large state-led projects are often promoted as drivers of economic growth.
