Vietnamese President Meets Russian Veterans, Affirms Strong Ties

On the afternoon of September 7 (local time) in Moscow, as part of his state visit to the Russian Federation, Vietnamese President To Lam met with a delegation from the Russian Veterans Association and the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association, led by Mr. Vladimir Petrovich Buyanov, Chairman of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association. The meeting served to reaffirm the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries and express gratitude for Russia's (including the Soviet era) support in Vietnam's national construction and defense. President To Lam conveyed that the Vietnamese people highly value the activities of Russian veterans and the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association. He also emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two countries, particularly in maintaining peace and stability. Under its one-party system, Vietnam pursues a "multi-directional foreign policy," aiming to build relationships without leaning towards any single country. Vietnam has historically maintained close ties with Russia, with cooperation in military and defense sectors being a long-standing tradition. This meeting, considering this historical background, is seen as an indication of Vietnam's intention to maintain and strengthen its strategic partnership with Russia, even amidst the current international situation. The Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association works to promote mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of both countries, and this meeting is expected to contribute to deepening relations at the grassroots level.
