Ho Chi Minh City Advances Dong Canal South Bank Urban Renewal Project

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Council has approved the investment policy for four urban renewal projects along the south bank of the Dong Canal (Kênh Đôi). These projects, previously located in District 8, are slated to commence construction in 2027 and be completed by 2032. The initiative involves relocating houses and structures along the canal, aiming for a comprehensive improvement of the urban landscape. As Ho Chi Minh City aspires to become a global megacity amidst its continuous economic growth, urban infrastructure development is a pressing concern. The areas along the Dong Canal, in particular, have long suffered from underdeveloped infrastructure, leading to landscape degradation and sanitation issues.
