Vietnam Strengthens International Cooperation in Aviation, Semiconductors, and Export Promotion

Vietnam is strengthening its economic position across various sectors, including aviation, semiconductors, and export promotion, by deepening cooperation with international partners. In aviation, flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will increase flight frequencies on routes to Japan, the Republic of Korea (RoK), and Taiwan to meet rising demand. The airline remains committed to achieving its 2026 business targets while supporting economic growth, trade, tourism, and international connectivity. Lien Khuong Airport, after its upgrade, is expected to handle a significant increase in flights and passengers, facilitating smoother domestic and international operations. For the semiconductor industry, Hanoi is actively building its semiconductor ecosystem. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Quang Trung Software City (QTSC) and the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) to connect Vietnam's semiconductor ecosystem with Singapore's business network and the wider region. This initiative aims to enhance Vietnam's technological capabilities and deepen its integration into the global semiconductor value chain. Vietnam is focusing on generating value not only from underground resources but also from technology, data, infrastructure, operational capabilities, and supply chain connectivity in the new energy economy. Regarding export promotion, the government is implementing a broad range of measures to strengthen export growth in the latter half of the year. These include expanding overseas markets through economic diplomacy, maximizing the benefits of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), streamlining administrative procedures, reducing logistics costs, improving access to credit, and assisting businesses in overcoming trade barriers. The CPTPP, in particular, has contributed to strong export growth in key sectors such as textiles, garments, footwear, and agricultural, forestry, and fishery products, while encouraging investment by promoting regional production networks and clearer rules of origin. The arrival of the first container from the Czech Republic was hailed as a successful outcome of a long market-opening process. Türkiye's target to lift total exports to over $400 billion USD by 2026 could create additional opportunities for Vietnamese agricultural products, food, and beverages. Dezhou City (China) is also tightening its links with ASEAN, with Vietnam seen as a key partner. Economically, Vietnam's GDP expanded by 8.18% in the first six months of the year, marking the highest first-half growth rate in recent years. Despite persistent global economic uncertainty, the government continues its efforts to boost export competitiveness. Campaigns are also underway to combat illegal fishing activities and protect marine resources. Vietnam's high level of crypto asset adoption presents significant opportunities for innovation while also creating greater demands for oversight and risk management, according to a Chainalysis ASEAN Regional Director.
