East Kalimantan to Host Regional Kalimantan Regional Government Achievement Awards 2026 Batch II
East Kalimantan has been chosen as the host for the 2026 Regional Government Achievement Awards Batch II for the Kalimantan region. The event will bring together regional leaders from across Borneo to strengthen collaboration and foster regional development. The venue was moved from West Kalimantan due to forest fires.
East Kalimantan (Kaltim) has officially been designated as the host for the 2026 Regional Government Achievement Awards Batch II for the Kalimantan Region. This event aims to recognize high-achieving regions and strengthen synergy among regional heads across the island of Borneo. The event is scheduled to take place in Balikpapan City on September 3rd. The Provincial Government of East Kalimantan (Pemprov Kaltim), in collaboration with the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN), held a preparatory meeting on Monday at the Provincial Regional Secretary's office to finalize arrangements. According to Arief M. Edie, the Vice Rector of IPDN for Administration, the awards ceremony was initially planned to be held in West Kalimantan (Kalbar). However, due to the prevailing forest and land fires (karhutla) in that region, the organizing committee requested a relocation to East Kalimantan. Sri Wahyuni, the Regional Secretary of East Kalimantan Province, stated that Balikpapan was chosen partly due to its excellent transportation accessibility, which is highly conducive to hosting a regional-scale event. The availability of flights connecting to various areas in Kalimantan is expected to facilitate the mobility of participants and central government officials. The Regional Government Achievement Awards 2026 Batch II is anticipated to be attended by regional heads from all over Kalimantan. In addition to ministers and officials from ministries and institutions, the event will involve the governors of the five Kalimantan provinces along with their respective Regional Leadership Coordination Forums (Forkopimda), as well as regents and mayors. The Balikpapan City Government has also affirmed its full readiness to support the event. One of the prepared venues is the Balai Kota Balikpapan Hall, which can accommodate approximately 109 participants and invited guests. Beyond the awards ceremony, the agenda also includes a coordination meeting between the provincial Forkopimda and the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam). This meeting is expected to enhance coordination between regional governments and the central government in addressing various development challenges and maintaining regional stability. Through the implementation of the Regional Government Achievement Awards 2026 Batch II for the Kalimantan Region, the government aims to foster closer collaboration among the regions on the island of Kalimantan. This momentum is also expected to strengthen East Kalimantan's strategic role as a regional coordination hub, supporting integrated national development acceleration. Source: CNN Indonesia
