Quang Ninh Seeks Cooperation, Investment in Germany

Quang Ninh province in Vietnam is seeking to strengthen economic cooperation and investment opportunities in Germany, particularly in the manufacturing, tourism, science and technology, education and training, and healthcare sectors. The province has been actively improving its investment environment and attracting investment domestically. In August alone, domestic investment from non-State sources totaled 39.082 trillion VND, with investment certificates granted to 12 new projects and increased investment capital approved for one existing project. This proactive approach aligns with Vietnam's policy of prioritizing economic growth under its one-party system. Vietnam's economy has shown robust growth, with the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) rising by 11.9% year-on-year in the first eight months of 2026, marking the highest growth rate for the period in many years. This expansion is supported by a recovery in manufacturing and increased exports. The country is also a leading global exporter of agricultural products like fruits, rice, cashew nuts, pepper, and coffee, with products reaching over 150 countries, including those with stringent standards. While maintaining strong economic ties with China, Vietnam is also diversifying its international partnerships, seeking to enhance cooperation with Europe, the US, and Japan. This engagement with Germany can be seen as part of Vietnam's broader strategy of multifaceted diplomatic and economic engagement. Vietnam also plays an active role in the international legal framework, participating in the UNCITRAL Working Group III, demonstrating its commitment to international cooperation. However, alongside economic progress, challenges are emerging. In Ho Chi Minh City, digital transformation in the legal profession is being pushed to ensure technology serves people while lawyers maintain control and responsibility for service quality, especially given the metropolis's large economy and diverse legal needs. Furthermore, increased costs associated with e-commerce platforms, including fees and service packages, are signaling an end to an era of easy selling and low costs for sellers.
