Cambodian Senate President Thanks Azerbaijan Counterpart on International Day of Parliamentarism
Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen expressed gratitude to Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Sahiba Gafarova for her message on the International Day of Parliamentarism. Both leaders discussed strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and contributing to global peace.
On July 21, 2026, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, sent a letter to Ms. Sahiba GAFAROVA, Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan, expressing his gratitude for the message sent on the occasion of the International Day of Parliamentarism. In his letter, Samdech Techo Hun Sen stated, "I sincerely thank you for your letter dated June 29, 2026, which conveyed congratulations and best wishes to me and to the Senate. Likewise, I express my warm congratulations to you and the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the International Day of Parliamentarism." Samdech Techo Hun Sen praised Azerbaijan's leadership in promoting inter-parliamentary cooperation, particularly through its visionary guidance of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Parliamentary Network. In the context of a world facing increasingly complex and interconnected challenges, Samdech Techo Hun Sen looks forward to working closely with Ms. Gafarova to further strengthen cooperation between the parliaments of our two countries. He expressed confidence that through enhanced cooperation, participation, and collaboration, mutual trust, understanding, and respect can be deepened, contributing meaningfully to peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region and the world. Samdech Techo Hun Sen further stated that to advance these common aspirations, parliaments must play a proactive role in fostering dialogue, strengthening international cooperation, and addressing pressing global challenges. In this regard, Cambodia will have the honor of hosting the 2nd Conference of Speakers of Parliaments of the IPU in Phnom Penh at the end of August. Inviting Ms. Gafarova, Samdech Techo Hun Sen hopes that she will be able to participate in this important forum.
