The Party Committee of the Vietnam Coast Guard convened to adopt a resolution for executing missions in the second half of 2026. The meeting reviewed achievements and challenges from the first half, outlining strategies for maritime security, combating IUU fishing, and enhancing international cooperation.
The Party Committee of the Vietnam Coast Guard held a conference on July 1 to adopt a resolution guiding the execution of missions in the second half of 2026. The meeting was chaired by Lieutenant General Bui Quoc Oai, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard. A report from the Party Committee highlighted that in the first half of 2026, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the leadership of the Coast Guard Command had directed the entire force to implement missions comprehensively and effectively, achieving success in many tasks with excellent results. Notably, strict maintenance of combat readiness, accurate grasp of maritime situations, and avoidance of unexpected situations were emphasized. Over 450 ships and boats safely navigated more than 150,000 nautical miles to carry out their duties. The force also strictly implemented and deployed the directives of General Secretary and President, Secretary of the Central Military Commission To Lam on "2 steadfastness, 2 promotion, 2 prevention," and the "5 firm" principle. Effective propaganda activities about the sea and islands were organized nationwide, including the "I Love My Homeland's Sea and Islands" contest. Legal enforcement measures were systematically deployed to combat crime and violations at sea. As a result, 698 cases involving 1,363 suspects were apprehended, investigated, and processed, with administrative fines and confiscated assets estimated at approximately 55 billion VND contributing to the state budget. Timely logistical and technical support for regular and urgent missions was ensured. Effective bilateral and multilateral cooperation activities with maritime law enforcement agencies of regional countries were also conducted. The conference focused on discussing outstanding achievements, analyzing favorable conditions and difficulties affecting mission completion, and proposing leadership and direction measures for the successful execution of future Coast Guard missions. In his concluding remarks, Lieutenant General Bui Quoc Oai stressed that in the coming period, the entire force must continue to focus on strictly maintaining the readiness system at all levels and closely managing sovereignty security in all sea areas. He urged for swift and decisive implementation of solutions to combat IUU (Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated) fishing, ensure absolute safety in training, and resolutely overcome weaknesses and shortcomings from the first half. He also called for improving the quality of disciplined organization, maintaining discipline and order, promoting the building of comprehensive, exemplary, and typical units, effectively implementing civil mobilization activities in coastal areas, and enhancing the quality of supervision for projects and construction to ensure progress and quality. Lieutenant General Bui Quoc Oai requested the entire force to be united, proactive, creative, overcome difficulties, and be determined to successfully complete all tasks, striving to achieve many new accomplishments that will further enhance the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers – the soldiers of the Coast Guard.
