Former House Speaker Romualdez transferred to PGH amid plunder case
Former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, who had an arrest warrant issued against him, was transferred to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) by order of the Sandiganbayan. He will remain detained there until further court directives.
MANILA, Philippines – Leyte 1st District Representative and former House speaker Martin Romualdez has been transferred on Saturday, September 12, to the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) in Manila, days after he was served an arrest warrant at a private hospital. The Sandiganbayan 3rd Division ordered his transfer to UP-PGH, as it handles his P7.44-billion plunder case linked to the flood control corruption scandal. Romualdez will remain confined at UP-PGH until further court orders.
