Cambodia and Australia Vow to Further Strengthen Relations

On the morning of July 30, 2026, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Prak Sokhonn, received a courtesy call and held discussions with Australian Minister for International Development and the Pacific, Anne-Marie, who is on a visit to Cambodia. During the meeting, both ministers expressed satisfaction with the positive evolution of Cambodia-Australia relations over more than seven decades, evidenced by frequent high-level visits, growing trade, and people-to-people exchanges. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on ways to further strengthen and expand cooperation in priority areas, including trade and investment, agriculture and agro-industry, energy, education, and demining. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern. As 2027 marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Cambodia and Australia pledged to continue strengthening their ties. Both sides are ready to organize joint activities to celebrate this historic milestone. Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn also briefed Minister Anne-Marie on recent developments regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border issue.
