Yangon, July 11 New recruits from the Laukkyan Taung military camp in Laukkyan Township, Tanintharyi Region, have fled after claiming they would steal chickens in the village, and the military council's troops are searching and firing shots, according to local military intelligence sources. On July 8, soldiers and new recruits from the Laukkyan Taung military camp descended into San Lan village, claiming they were going to steal chickens, after which four new recruits fled. Of the four new recruits who fled, one was shot and captured by the army. Due to severe injuries, he was transported by car to Laukkyan town. It is reported that the remaining three new recruits are still being searched for by the army, with gunfire. A local military intelligence source said, "On the 8th, people from Laukkyan Taung camp came down to San Lan village to steal chickens. Then, four new recruits fled. They were shot at while fleeing, and one was hit and left behind. I don't know if he's dead or alive. He was taken by car to the Laukkyan police station. I heard the remaining three are still at large." Furthermore, it is reported that fierce fighting broke out between the military council's troops and resistance forces near Getaung Mountain in Nyaung Maw village, Laukkyan Township, starting around 1 p.m. on July 10.
