Thai PM Inspects Preparations for Myanmar Junta Chief's Visit

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul inspected the readiness of the reception ceremony for Myanmar's Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is scheduled to pay an official visit to Thailand from August 6-7. The Prime Minister confirmed that preparations were in order in the lawn area in front of the Thai Khu Fah Building. According to reports, the Prime Minister, responding to reporters, affirmed that all preparations were proceeding smoothly and asked if there were any recommendations. He also mentioned that a red carpet would be laid out for the welcome. On the first day of the visit, August 6, the schedule includes a review of the honor guard in front of the Thai Khu Fah Building, a photo session between the two leaders, signing of the visitors' book, a small-scale meeting, a four-eyes meeting, and a plenary session. Subsequently, at the Santi Maitri Building, an agreement signing ceremony for assistance and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing, along with a ceremony for the provision of assistance, will take place. In the evening of the same day, the Prime Minister will host a dinner reception at the Santi Maitri Building. This visit is drawing attention to the relationship between Thailand and Myanmar, particularly in terms of security and economic cooperation. Thailand, considering the impact of the unstable situation within Myanmar on the region, is believed to be exploring diplomatic approaches.
