Knife Attack in Cambodia's Kandal Province Leads to Arrest of Suspect with Drug Use

A knife attack occurred in Kandal Province, Cambodia, where a man and a woman on a motorcycle were assaulted, resulting in the woman's injury. Police have arrested one suspect for drug use, while an accomplice remains at large. The incident took place on July 18th around 10:20 PM on a dirt road in Talorn village, S'ang district. Two individuals were injured. The first victim is a 20-year-old male who was driving the motorcycle. The second victim is a 21-year-old female farmer, who sustained a serious injury to her back. The arrested suspect is a 29-year-old male, believed to be the driver who attacked the victim with a knife. A urine test confirmed the presence of illegal substances. A second suspect, a 26-year-old male who was a passenger on the motorcycle, is currently evading capture. The incident reportedly began when the victims were returning home after having dessert. They encountered the suspects who were searching for youths who had insulted them. The suspects mistook the victims for the individuals they were looking for. The suspect then stopped his motorcycle and attacked the female victim with a machete, striking her in the back. Both suspects fled the scene on their motorcycle. The victims subsequently contacted relatives and reported the incident to the police. The injured woman is receiving medical treatment at Luong Sang Hospital. Authorities apprehended one suspect on July 20th, but the accomplice remains at large.
