Cambodia Reiterates Commitment to Nuclear-Weapon-Free World at UN

Cambodia has reiterated its unwavering commitment to achieving a world free of nuclear weapons and the permanent cessation of nuclear testing. Speaking at a high-level meeting in New York to commemorate the International Day against Nuclear Tests, H.E. Keo Chua, Cambodia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), emphasized Cambodia's steadfast dedication to this goal. He urged all countries to demonstrate political will to bring the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) into force. The Ambassador also welcomed nuclear-weapon states that wish to sign and ratify the protocol to the Treaty on the Southeast Asia Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone (SEANWFZ) without any conditions. He further called on other nuclear-weapon states to do the same. This statement underscores Cambodia's active role in promoting nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament within the international community. The entry into force of the CTBT and the strengthening of the SEANWFZ are expected to contribute to the improvement of regional and global security environments. Cambodia intends to continue its diplomatic efforts towards building a peaceful and stable international order.
