Police Hunt for Teens After Arson Attack on Northern Thailand Restaurant

Police in Thailand's northern Lamphun province are searching for two teenagers following a late-night arson attack on a local restaurant. The incident occurred on the night of July 18, when two youths on a motorcycle allegedly poured gasoline and set fire to the "Pak Poed Papaya Salad" shop in the Ban Klang subdistrict. The entire act was captured on security cameras, which also showed another teenager filming the incident with a mobile phone. Colonel Thitiphon Arunsakul, chief of the local police station handling the case in Lamphun, confirmed that footage from security cameras in the vicinity of the incident has been analyzed and matches the recorded events. Police are interviewing the owner of the damaged establishment and other individuals connected to the case, working to uncover the motive behind the attack. Colonel Thitiphon stated that planned crimes always have a motive, and its discovery is expected to lead to arrests. A special investigation team is currently working to trace the suspects' escape route, narrowing the search for their swift apprehension. In response to this incident, other local restaurant owners have heightened their vigilance, reinforcing security measures such as installing additional outdoor lighting and checking their surveillance cameras. Residents in the area are calling for strict legal penalties against the young perpetrators of this violent crime.
