Cambodia Inaugurates 'Luang Mae Hospital' for Cancer Treatment, Aiming to Reduce Medical Costs

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet attended the official inauguration ceremony of 'Luang Mae Hospital,' located in Prey Sar East Village, Prey Sar Commune, Dangkao District, Phnom Penh, on the morning of September 16, 2026. This hospital has transitioned from a COVID-19 treatment facility to one specializing in the care of cancer patients. Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the establishment of this hospital will reduce the burden on citizens who previously had to spend at least $80,000 for cancer treatment abroad. Treatment within the country is significantly more affordable, with initial consultations costing approximately $30, and the B.O.S.S. (social security fund) card can be used for some services. The Prime Minister emphasized that Luang Mae Hospital does not belong to any single individual but is a hospital for all Cambodian citizens, open and providing high consideration to all who need consultation and treatment.
