Cambodia: Ministry of Environment and CI Sign 5-Year MOU for Natural Resource Management and Conservation

The Ministry of Environment of Cambodia and Conservation International (CI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on September 23, 2026, at the Ministry of Environment headquarters, to strengthen cooperation in the management and conservation of natural resources in Cambodia. The MOU will be effective from 2026 to 2031. This five-year cooperation will focus on key priority areas including the protection and conservation of natural resources, research and technological development, community development, capacity building, and financial sustainability. The MOU also aims to ensure that CI's strategies are fully aligned with the policies of the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Ministry of Environment's 'Environmental Sector Roundtable Strategy 2023-2028.' Through this cooperation, both parties are expected to contribute significantly to sustainable natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, response to climate change, and the improvement of livelihoods for local communities within protected areas. CI and the Ministry of Environment have a long-standing relationship and close cooperation in the management and conservation of natural resources in Cambodia. This collaboration has been continuously implemented in priority areas such as the Central Cardamom Mountains Landscape, the Prey Long Wildlife Sanctuary, and the Ver Sai-Siem Pang National Park.
