Cambodia Establishes Trade Office in Paris to Boost Investment and Economic Ties

The Cambodian government has officially decided to establish a representative office of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce in Paris, France. This significant decision was formally announced and enacted by Prime Minister Hun Manet on September 25, 2026. According to the decree, the new entity will be known as the "Cambodia Chamber of Commerce Paris Representative Office." Its operational jurisdiction will be specifically demarcated within the city of Paris. The office will be staffed by a team of 15 members, who will be selected through an election process. A key aspect of this initiative is its financial independence from the state. The Cambodia Chamber of Commerce Paris Representative Office will not utilize funds from the national budget, indicating a self-sustaining operational model. This strategic establishment is widely interpreted as Cambodia's concerted effort to forge a stronger economic presence in Europe. By setting up a dedicated office in Paris, a major European capital, Cambodia aims to enhance its access to French and broader EU markets. This initiative is expected to facilitate increased trade, attract foreign direct investment (FDI), and foster closer economic and commercial ties between Cambodia and European nations. The decision mandates that various ministries, including the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Commerce, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, along with other relevant institutions, will be responsible for overseeing and implementing the decree according to their respective duties.
