Indonesia has expressed concern at the United Nations regarding the impact of rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology on children's rights, strongly advocating for enhanced protection in this domain. During discussions at the UN, the Indonesian representative highlighted that AI has the potential to affect children across various sectors, including education, entertainment, and potentially labor. Particular alarm was raised about the increasing risks of child exploitation, exposure to inappropriate content, and privacy violations in the online space. Indonesia argued that it is imperative to develop legal frameworks and ethical guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of children, running parallel to the progress of AI technologies. This includes measures to eliminate bias in AI systems, prevent the collection and use of children's data without consent, and implement technological and educational strategies to protect children from online harassment and bullying. The nation called for collaboration among governments, technology companies, and international organizations to promote responsible development and use of AI, ensuring it positively influences children's growth and development.
