Vietnam Dispatches Search and Rescue Team to Earthquake-Hit Venezuela
A Vietnamese search and rescue team from the Ministry of Public Security has arrived in Venezuela to assist with earthquake relief efforts. The team will conduct search and rescue operations, provide medical aid, and support recovery.
A search and rescue team from the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam has arrived in Venezuela to support earthquake-stricken areas. At 12:15 PM local time on June 29, members of the Vietnamese Search and Rescue Team landed at Simón Bolívar International Airport in Venezuela to officially commence international search and rescue operations in the friendly country. Upon arrival in the capital, Caracas, the delegation will travel approximately 40km to the scene, then deploy forces and equipment to immediately begin search and rescue missions. Simón Bolívar International Airport is the main air gateway serving the capital, Caracas, and is one of Venezuela's 12 most important airports. Two earthquakes that occurred on the afternoon of June 25 caused many structures to collapse, creating panic at the airport and raising tsunami warnings in some coastal areas. During their stay in Venezuela, the delegation will coordinate with local rescue forces and other international rescue teams to search for missing persons, provide medical treatment, assist in earthquake aftermath recovery, and perform other tasks as requested by the Venezuelan side, in accordance with the team's expertise and capabilities. This is not only a search and rescue mission but also an expression of Vietnam's solidarity with the losses the people of Venezuela are facing. Colonel Phạm Hùng Dương, Deputy Director of the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Department, stated, "Our sincere wish is to help the people of Venezuela minimize losses and conduct the most effective search and rescue operations." Lieutenant Đỗ Quang Nam from the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Department's Training and Response Center added, "We have prepared all the necessary equipment for search and rescue operations in collapsed structures. Additionally, we have prepared food and essential supplies to support victims and those affected in the country experiencing the incident and natural disaster." Currently, the delegation is surveying the area in Playa Grande Ward, Catia la Mar District, La Guaira State.
