Vietnam Holds 33rd Diplomatic Conference to Discuss Foreign Affairs' Role in New Era

The Communist Party of Vietnam held the plenary session of the 33rd Diplomatic Conference in Hanoi on August 1. The conference, themed 'Promoting the Pioneering Role and Performing Key Tasks of Vietnamese Foreign Affairs in the New Era,' was attended by top Party and State leaders. General Secretary and President Tô Lâm attended the conference and delivered a keynote speech. He emphasized that foreign affairs should play a central role in supporting national development. He also highlighted the importance of effectively implementing the foreign affairs line in the new era, resolutely protecting national sovereignty, promoting national interests, consolidating peace, and expanding space for cooperation and development. This conference serves as a crucial opportunity for Vietnam to reaffirm its position in the international community and formulate diplomatic strategies to maximize national interests amidst a complex geopolitical landscape. Vietnam's foreign policy, conducted under a one-party system, prioritizes maintaining economic growth and development, as well as stabilizing relations with neighboring countries, particularly China.
