Indonesian Esports National Team Partners with Sports Science for Asian Games
The Indonesian National Esports Team is intensifying preparations for the 2026 Asian Games, incorporating sports science to optimize athlete performance. Beyond technical skills, the program focuses on physical fitness, mental health, recovery, and sleep to ensure peak condition.
JAKARTA - Manager of the Indonesian National Esports Team Glorya Famiela Ralahalo said that the athletes' preparations are currently running almost 100 percent and are being carried out progressively ahead of departure to Japan for the 2026 Asian Games. Apart from technical preparations such as game strategies, the Indonesian Esports General Manager (PB ESI) also pays special attention to non-technical aspects, namely the physical and mental health of athletes through the sports science approach. "If the technical factor itself, I am sure, from the coaches and athletes we are ready to fight in Aichi-Nagoya. So from the technical and strategic aspects of the game, we trust them," said the woman who is familiarly called Ela at a press conference on Tuesday, September 15. He added that the technical readiness of athletes continued to be honed through training programs led by coaches to ensure that strategies and playing ability are in optimal condition when facing competition at the Asian Games. Beyond the aspect of the game, the Indonesian National Esports Team also collaborates with the sports science team to monitor the athletes' condition more objectively, to know the needs of each athlete, ranging from fitness levels to the quality of recovery after intensive training. "The sports science program helps us get a more objective picture of the condition and needs of each athlete, ranging from fitness, training load, quality of recovery, to sleep and mental aspects," he explained. To support the program, the Indonesian National Esports Team also involved nutritionists and doctors who were tasked with maintaining the physical condition as well as the mental health of athletes during the preparation period. Ela hopes that the combination of game strategy readiness and comprehensive health support can help athletes perform optimally at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. "Our great hope is that Indonesian athletes can fight and get the best results to make Indonesia famous in the world," he concluded.
