Tractor-trailer Driver Rams Police Checkpoints, Flees 130km Before Arrest

In Phu Tho province, northern Vietnam, Bui Van Bao, 27, from Lao Cai province, was arrested after ignoring police orders to stop and ramming through checkpoints, leading to a chase of approximately 130 km. In the early morning of July 18, while driving on National Highway 32, a traffic patrol unit from the Phu Tho Provincial Police requested him to stop for inspection. However, Bao refused and instead accelerated away. During the pursuit, police used sirens and a loudspeaker to order him to stop. They also deployed multiple task forces along the route to intercept the vehicle. Despite these efforts, Bao deliberately drove through the checkpoints, damaging reflective markers used for patrol and control operations, and continued to flee towards the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway. After a pursuit and interception operation spanning about 130 km, police finally managed to stop Bao's vehicle near IC14 on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway in Lao Cai province. Police assessed Bao's actions as "extremely dangerous, demonstrating a disregard for the law," and stated that they posed a direct threat to the safety of law enforcement officers and the public.
