The joint force, led by Major General Som Son, Commander of the Kampong Thom Provincial Military Operation Area, in cooperation with the Fisheries Administration and local authorities, inspected the fish conservation areas in the area of Tonle Sap Lake in Phat Sanday village, Kampong Svay district. Major General Som Son explained to the fishermen about the Fisheries Law, emphasizing that fishing of any kind and in any form is strictly prohibited within the conservation areas, especially during the current closed fishing season. Mr. Chin Sitha, Director of the Kampong Thom Provincial Department of Fisheries, stated that there are two fish conservation areas in Phat Sanday village, Kampong Svay district. These include the conservation area of the former Lot No. 2 Prek Sak, which comprises five streams: Prek Sak, Prek Tluk, Prek Ta Pa, Prek Ba, and Prek Nam. The other is the Lot No. 2 Stuon conservation area. Major General Som Son affirmed the success achieved over the past nearly two years, during which the forces of the Provincial Military Operation Area, in cooperation with local authorities, Fisheries Administration officials, and relevant law enforcement forces, have worked together to protect, prevent, and crack down on all forms of illegal fishing on the surface of Tonle Sap Lake, in accordance with the orders of the Head of Government. He stated that due to the conservation efforts and the crackdown on illegal fishing, fish stocks have now recovered in all areas.
