Cambodia Urges Heightened Dengue Fever Vigilance Amid Rainy Season

Cambodia's Minister of Health, Dr. Chheang Ra, has urged leaders at all levels to increase their attention and cooperation regarding the issue of dengue fever, which is on the rise during the rainy season. During a leadership meeting for July held at the Ministry of Health on the morning of July 20, attended by leaders from ministries, central units, the Phnom Penh Municipal Health Department, and via Zoom, the Minister instructed for cooperation at all levels. This includes collaboration between leaders, the National Center, health departments, and local authorities to conduct regular health education for citizens to prevent dengue fever and to ensure timely access to nearby healthcare services in cases of suspected infection. Furthermore, Dr. Chheang Ra stated that all health departments must improve healthcare services, ensure adequate treatment techniques and medicines, and encourage experts to investigate high-risk areas for assessment and situation management. He also stressed the need to enhance public health surveillance for infectious diseases that could pose risks from various countries at any time. The Minister also advised to promote daily work and update it according to the situation to review progress, reflect on what has been implemented well, what needs improvement, and identify delays to find timely solutions. Dr. Chheang Ra emphasized, "Leaders, especially those in units, should not hesitate to foster a spirit of competition with oneself by taking responsibility and implementing efficiently.
