Hanoi Apartment Fire: Phone Charger Suspected Cause

A fire broke out at the 90 Nguyen Tuan apartment building in Thanh Xuan ward, Hanoi. Around 8:30 AM, the building's fire alarm sounded, prompting residents to evacuate to the corridors and lobby. The fire originated in an apartment on the 12th floor, measuring approximately 90 square meters. The owner had locked the door, and no one was inside, according to the building management. Building security and technical staff broke down the door to extinguish the fire. Flames, originating from a 10 square meter bedroom, spread outwards, with smoke affecting the balconies and loggias of 5-7 floors above. Firefighters from Rescue Team No. 13 arrived with fire trucks and nearly a dozen personnel. The blaze was extinguished within about 10 minutes. No casualties were reported. Some items in the bedroom, such as blankets and mattresses, were destroyed. Police stated the cause of the fire was a short circuit from a phone charger in the bedroom. Ten days prior, a fire occurred in an apartment on the 9th floor of the same complex, from which a mother and her three children escaped safely.
