Cambodia Gears Up for 2027 Local Elections with Party Organization Strengthening in Baray District

A crucial meeting aimed at strengthening party organization and strategizing for the upcoming 6th mandate local council elections in 2027 was held in Baray District, Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia, on July 26, 2026. The meeting was led by Hout Hak, a member of the party's Central Committee and Deputy Chairman of the Party's Working Group for Base Areas in Kampong Thom Province. The meeting focused on three main objectives: 1) To review the work results of the first half of 2026, assessing strengths, weaknesses, challenges, and requests, and setting work directions for the second half of the year. 2) To formulate a comprehensive plan at the district level in preparation for the 2027 local elections. 3) To decide on the establishment and appointment of the Election Campaign Command for the 2027 local elections. The meeting was attended by approximately 300 participants, including leaders and members of the party's working group for base areas in Baray District, district council members, chairmen of district party committees, chairmen of party working groups for all 10 communes, and other party members. Hout Hak stated that the comprehensive plan for the 2027 local elections was set by the party's Central Committee on April 27, 2026, and has been disseminated by the Kampong Provincial Party for implementation within the province, under the high presidency of Vongsey Vissoth, a member of the party's Standing Committee of the Central Committee and Chairman of the Party's Working Group for Base Areas in Kampong Thom Province. He emphasized that the achievements made so far are the fruits of unity, internal solidarity, good cooperation, and all-around dedication from leaders at all levels and members, adhering to the spirit of 'daring to think, daring to act, and daring to take responsibility' for the cause of the party and the interests of the people. Furthermore, Hout Hak pointed out that Baray District's comprehensive plan has been prepared in accordance with the directives from the central and provincial levels, aligning with the actual situation and serving as a compass at the district level for all working groups to strengthen their work implementation towards victory in the upcoming elections. Finally, he instructed commune-level authorities and working groups at all levels to develop practical action plans, organize work calendars, and conduct regular field visits, in line with the principle of 'three visits' (visit to meet, visit to help, visit to distribute), and to perform their duties and responsibilities with high accountability.
