Rain Showers and Thunderstorms Expected in Many Areas of Can Tho on Opening Day

Can Tho City in southern Vietnam is anticipating rain showers and thunderstorms across many areas on September 5, the opening day of the academic year. Increased rainfall is particularly expected during the afternoon hours. The Can Tho City Hydro-Meteorological Station has issued a weather forecast for the opening day. The weather is predicted to be partly cloudy to cloudy with intermittent sunshine, accompanied by scattered rainfall. The rain is forecast to occur mainly from late morning through the afternoon in several spells. From approximately 4 AM to 7 AM, areas such as Vi Thuy, Vinh Thuan Dong, Long Phu 1, Luong Tam, Ho Dac Kien, Tan Phuoc Hung, Nga Bay, and Nga Nam may experience rain showers and thunderstorms. Meanwhile, central districts like Ninh Kieu, Cai Khe, Tan An, An Binh, Long Tuyen, and Cai Rang are expected to be mostly cloudy with no rain during this period. However, during the opening ceremony hours from 7 AM to 11 AM, light rain is forecast for districts in the city center, with rain showers and thunderstorms expected between 12 PM and 5 PM. Other localities predicted to have rain showers and thunderstorms during the opening ceremony include Xa Phien, Long Binh, Long My, Hiep Hung, Dai Thanh, An Ninh, Thuan Hoa, An Lac Thon, and Ke Sach. Regarding preparations for the opening day, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee, stated that the city is in the final stages of preparing for the new academic year. City officials have conducted site inspections in various locations, working with the education sector to finalize remaining tasks, from school beautification to student reception. According to the plan, schools are scheduled to hold their opening ceremonies between 7 AM and 8 AM. Ms. Tran Thi Huyen, Director of the Department of Education and Training, announced that the education sector has mobilized approximately 1.7 billion VND (equivalent to about 10 million USD) from social resources to support students facing financial difficulties. These funds will be used for scholarships, health insurance, uniforms, and bicycles, aiming to help students attend school in the new academic year. Under Vietnam's one-party system, economic growth remains a key focus, and investments in education are part of this development strategy. Relations with neighboring China are also a significant factor influencing regional stability and economic activities, though this report primarily focuses on domestic educational infrastructure and weather information.
