Nan Province Flood Victims to Receive 9,000 Baht Aid

The Thai government is set to begin transferring 9,000 baht in flood relief payments to over 15,000 households in Nan province on Monday, September 8th. This marks the first round of disbursements, totaling approximately 136.94 million baht, according to Deputy government spokesperson Phatdarasmi Thongsaluakorn. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has submitted the list of eligible recipients to the Government Savings Bank, which will process the transfers between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM on September 8th. Recipients are advised to check their bank accounts or PromptPay details linked to their national ID number to ensure they receive the funds. The government has urged eligible residents to actively verify their PromptPay registration. The payments stem from a Cabinet resolution on August 25th, which approved the criteria for financial assistance to households affected by flooding during the 2026 rainy season. Each eligible household can receive a one-time payment of 9,000 baht if their primary residence was flooded for no more than seven days with property damage, or if it remained flooded for over seven consecutive days. The residence must also be located in an area officially declared a disaster zone or eligible for government assistance. Flood victims who have not yet applied can register via the Tang Rat government application, which verifies applicants against civil registration records. In-person applications at local administrative organizations are also an option, with officials assisting residents in system entry. Prime Minister has instructed relevant agencies to expedite assistance, allowing local authorities to submit verified applications in batches to speed up the payment process.
