Cambodia Awards Over 2,000 Vocational Training Scholarships to Youth from Poor and Vulnerable Families

The Stung Treng Provincial Training Center (PTCST), under Cambodia's Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, has provided 2,090 vocational training scholarships to youth from poor and vulnerable families as part of the 'TVET 1.5M' program (1.5 million people in vocational and technical training). This initiative is spearheaded by Prime Minister Hun Manet to foster employment opportunities and economic independence among young Cambodians. According to PTCST, the 12 selected skill areas include plastering, building electrical wiring installation, electrical welding, beauty services, men's hairdressing, motorcycle maintenance and repair, computer graphic design, cashew nut cultivation, care, and harvesting, Khmer cuisine, beverage business, vegetable and fruit processing, and catfish farming. These skills were chosen based on actual labor market demands, shortages of skilled professionals, and high post-graduation employment prospects. Trainees are expected to utilize these skills to secure employment or develop businesses within their respective provinces and communities. The training offers flexible schedules to accommodate students' availability. Options include Monday-Friday morning/afternoon classes (4 months), Monday-Friday morning or afternoon classes (6 months), evening classes (8 months), and Saturday-Sunday classes (10 months). Registration for new courses begins from the date of this announcement.
