Cambodian People's Party Urges Enhanced Grassroots Engagement to Understand Citizen Challenges

The Cambodian People's Party (CPP) has directed its party organizations to strengthen grassroots engagement to understand the challenges and solutions faced by citizens. This directive was issued by Khun Khunthy, a member of the CPP Central Committee and head of the working group for Kampong Svay district. During a meeting with party members in the Ni Petch commune of Kampong Svay district on September 20, 2026, Khun Khunthy emphasized the critical importance of party working groups going to the grassroots to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and concerns of the people, especially those facing hardship. She stated that this direct engagement demonstrates the responsibility of the party team and the care and affection of the party leadership towards the public. Furthermore, Khun Khunthy urged commune working groups and party leaders to unite in addressing challenges based on accurate and timely discussions, acting with high ethical standards. Loyalty within the party is considered the primary duty for building trust and confidence. Special attention was also drawn to migrant workers, ensuring they have adequate documentation for voting. The directive also called for party teams to regularly disseminate information about the party's achievements, countering any negative influence from opposition groups. Leaders at commune and village levels were encouraged to actively recruit new party members, particularly among young people eligible to vote. Khun Khunthy also stressed the need to pay attention to citizens with expired, lost, or damaged identification documents, encouraging them to renew their IDs for upcoming voter registration. She reiterated the importance of providing good and timely public services to all citizens.
