Angkor Wat to Host Equinox Event Celebrating Sunrise Phenomenon

The 'Equinox Angkor Run' event will be held at Cambodia's Angkor Wat temple complex to celebrate the mystical phenomenon of the sun rising through the central towers during the spring and autumn equinoxes. This natural spectacle is expected to be observable for three days, from September 21 to September 22, 2026. The event will feature a variety of activities encompassing sports, tourism, culture, and humanitarian efforts, with an anticipated turnout of approximately 5,000 to 10,000 national and international participants. Attendees will also have the opportunity to make voluntary donations to support humanitarian causes and beneficial social activities within the community. The primary objectives of the 'Equinox Angkor Run' are to promote public health and participation in sports, stimulate tourism during the green season, and widely showcase the tourism potential, cultural heritage, and aesthetic beauty of the Angkor region to both domestic and international visitors. Through the organization of this event, it is anticipated that related tourism services, including hotels, restaurants, transportation, tour guides, and community businesses, will experience increased activity.
