New School Building Construction Begins in Svay Rieng Province, Cambodia, Aiming to Boost Literacy and Educational Quality

A groundbreaking ceremony for a new school building was held on September 20th at Tanu Primary School in Chamkarmon Commune, Svay Rieng Province, Cambodia. The ceremony was presided over by Senior Privy Councilor Men Sam An. Also in attendance were Senators, Members of Parliament, Secretary General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) Jegath Vuthy, Governor of Svay Rieng Province Peng Porsar and his wife, representative of Gigaris Special Economic Zone Chuang Sisiing, philanthropists from the Association of Cambodian Investment, teachers, local residents, and construction workers, totaling approximately 100 people. During the ceremony, prayers were offered to the local deities, and rituals were performed to ensure the safety and success of the construction project. The new building, comprising four classrooms, is expected to alleviate overcrowding and improve the learning environment. This will enhance the quality of education, providing adequate space for both students and teachers, thus facilitating more effective teaching and learning. It is also anticipated to broaden educational opportunities for children in the community, serving as a crucial foundation for acquiring future skills and knowledge. During the event, Senior Privy Councilor Men Sam An donated 50,000 riels to each construction worker, 80,000 riels to each teacher, and 20,000 riels to each local resident. This school construction is part of the Cambodian government's strengthened investment in the education sector, particularly as an initiative to address educational disparities in rural areas and foster human capital development for the future.
