Banteay Meanchey Province Vows to Enhance Women's and Children's Rights

Banteay Meanchey Province, Cambodia, has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the well-being and rights of women and children. During the 25th ordinary meeting of the Provincial Advisory Committee for Women and Children's Affairs held on July 28, 2026, Ms. Chut Dalin, a provincial council member and the committee's chairperson, strongly emphasized that promoting the welfare and empowerment of women and children is a shared duty and responsibility of all relevant parties. This initiative aims to contribute to poverty reduction and build a harmonious society. The meeting, held at the provincial hall, received a monthly work report highlighting notable progress, including the dissemination of laws, provision of support services to victims of violence, and monitoring the situation of vulnerable children. However, Ms. Dalin urged relevant authorities and line ministries to continue paying close attention to persistent challenges such as violence against women and children, school dropouts, lack of care for migrant children, and vulnerabilities within communities. "We must go down to the grassroots more frequently, listen directly to the challenges faced by the people, and resolve them in a timely manner, ensuring that no woman or child is overlooked," stated Ms. Chut Dalin. To ensure future effectiveness, the Provincial Advisory Committee has outlined key measures: strengthening awareness and continuing to widely disseminate laws and rights for women and children; protecting children and preventing all forms of violence, exploitation, and human trafficking; promoting leadership and encouraging women's participation in decision-making processes and local development; providing social support to vulnerable women and poor families through skills training programs and other interventions; and closely cooperating to strengthen partnerships between the provincial administration, line ministries, civil society organizations, and local communities.
