Counterfeit Banknotes Flood Thailand, Seafood Vendor Falls Victim to Fake 100 Baht Note

Recently, a seafood vendor in Udon Thani province, located in the northeastern region of Thailand, fell victim to a fake 100 baht note. The vendor reportedly suspected the note and attempted to verify its watermark. However, the counterfeit was of such poor quality that its color began to bleed within seconds of being dipped in water. The circulation of such counterfeit currency poses a threat to the credibility of the Thai economy. Small businesses and ordinary citizens, who still rely heavily on cash transactions, are particularly vulnerable to these scams.
