Comelec Finalizes Disqualification of Moro Ako Party from BARMM 2026 Polls

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has ruled with finality on the disqualification of the Moro Ako Party from the Major Regional Parliamentary Political Party (RPPP) roster for the upcoming BARMM parliamentary elections. The decision stems from the party's alleged failure to satisfy registration requirements and commission of material misrepresentation. According to a Certificate of Finality and Entry of Judgment dated September 7, 2026, the Commission stated it did not receive a motion for reconsideration on the en banc ruling that affirmed Moro Ako's disqualification. Such a motion could have been filed within five days of the party's receipt of the August 27 resolution by the Commission en Banc, aiming to prevent the order from becoming final and executory. In its August 27 ruling, the Commission En Banc affirmed its denial of Moro Ako Party's appeal regarding the cancellation of its registration and accreditation as an RPPP, citing a lack of merit. Comelec Resolution 11271 considers the cancellation of Moro Ako Party's registration and accreditation final and executory. Consequently, all entitlements, privileges, and preferences granted to the party, including the allotment of the 12th copy of the election returns and the privilege to appoint watchers, are withdrawn. The Comelec noted that only eight major RPPPs remain accredited for the upcoming September 14, 2026 BARMM polls.
