Vietnam Engages International Investors in Non-Deal Roadshow to Boost Credit Rating
Vietnam's Ministry of Finance is strengthening dialogue with international investors through Non-Deal Roadshows (NDRs). This initiative aims to provide accurate information on the country's economic and social conditions, fiscal, and monetary policies, with the goal of improving its national credit rating.
The Ministry of Finance, in coordination with the State Bank of Vietnam and relevant ministries and sectors, will organize Non-Deal Roadshows (NDRs) for international investors. This initiative aims to proactively provide information, maintain market connectivity, and support the goal of improving the national credit rating. The roadshow will focus on updating international financial institutions and investment funds on Vietnam's socio-economic situation, important fiscal and monetary policies, the direction of public debt management, and reforms in institutions, infrastructure, and public financial management. This is a regular operational activity through which management agencies directly provide official and transparent information on Vietnam's macroeconomic conditions and management policies. It also creates an opportunity for debt management agencies to receive market feedback and grasp the assessment and interest level of international investors towards Vietnamese government bonds. As Vietnam sets high growth targets and aims to become a high-income middle-income country, maintaining regular dialogue with the international financial community is expected to strengthen investor confidence and provide a basis for assessing Vietnam's economic prospects and public financial management capacity. Within the framework of the roadshow, the Ministry of Finance plans to work with international credit rating agencies to implement the National Credit Rating Improvement Project, aiming for Vietnam to achieve an investment-grade credit rating. During these meetings, Vietnam will update on the latest macroeconomic developments and the progress of reforms in institutions, infrastructure, and public financial management. Providing comprehensive and timely information is expected to help international organizations make more objective and realistic assessments of Vietnam's economy, fiscal situation, public debt, and national credit rating prospects. The Ministry of Finance emphasizes that this is an annual investor engagement program and is not accompanied by an immediate international bond offering or issuance. Therefore, the roadshow does not signify that Vietnam is currently undertaking a fundraising effort in the international market. Issues related to the scale, maturity, and timing of bond issuance, if any, will be considered and decided by the Government at an appropriate time, based on the capital needs for domestic development investment and the dynamics of domestic and international capital markets. According to the Ministry of Finance, maintaining regular communication channels with the international financial market and proactively approaching potential investors is a necessary activity. This allows Vietnam to prepare conditions for diversifying financial resources, optimizing capital mobilization costs when needs arise, and continuously enhancing its position in the process of international financial integration.
