Receiving Ambassador of Thailand: Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker received ambassador of Thailand

The Speaker of Pyithu Hluttaw U Khin Yi received a delegation led by Mr. Tor Saralamba, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar, at the guest hall of the Pyithu Hluttaw Building in Nay Pyi Taw Monday afternoon. During the meeting, the Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker discussed the steadily developing and strengthening diplomatic relations between Myanmar and Thailand; the deepening relations between the peoples of the two countries through mutually beneficial cooperation; and efforts to intensify cooperation between the two countries to eradicate transnational crimes, illicit drugs, human trafficking and online scams. He also discussed the need to further promote bilateral trade activities. Regarding cooperation between the two legislatures, he discussed ways to enhance parliamentary-to-parliamentary and committee-to-committee cooperation, as well as cooperation among youths and women. He also noted that a Myanmar–Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Association has already been formed in the Pyithu Hluttaw to further promote friendship and cooperation between the two parliaments. The Thai Ambassador conveyed greetings from the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand to the Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker. He also said that, in the interest of promoting cooperation between the two parliaments, he would like to invite the Speaker to pay an official goodwill visit to Thailand at a suitable time. He expressed his pleasure and pride upon learning that the Myanmar–Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Association had been established. Also attending the meeting together with the Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker were Deputy Speaker U Maung Maung Ohn, Secretary of the Pyithu Hluttaw Myanmar–Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Association U Aung Kyaw Thu, and officials from the Pyithu Hluttaw Office. The Thai Ambassador was accompanied by officials from the Embassy of Thailand.
