Globe network fully restored in monsoon-hit NCR, Rizal

MANILA, Philippines — Globe Telecom Inc. said Friday it had fully restored mobile and broadband services across areas in Metro Manila and Rizal affected by recent rains brought by the southwest monsoon, or habagat. The Ayala-led telco reported that monsoon rains disrupted mobile services in nine cities and municipalities in Metro Manila and two additional areas in Rizal. They also noted broadband outages in seven cities and municipalities in Metro Manila. READ: A week of storms: Monsoon, Luis, Maymay leave trail of destruction As of Friday, Globe said it had fully restored its network in these areas, although its teams remain on the ground to monitor network performance. “Globe will continue to monitor network conditions and provide assistance in affected areas as restoration and recovery efforts continue,” it said in an advisory. Elsewhere, the telco said it continues to extend assistance to subscribers in other monsoon-hit areas nationwide. In particular, Globe is offering free unlimited calls and texts to subscribers in Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, Zambales, Pangasinan, La Union, Benguet and Mountain Province. Customers in these areas may also avail of 100 megabytes (MB) of free open-access data and another 100 MB for Facebook, Viber, and other apps, valid for one day. For broadband customers, select Globe At Home prepaid Wi-Fi users receive 5 gigabytes (GB) of open-access data that remains valid for three days, while GFiber Prepaid customers get 15 GB of free data, valid for 15 days. Globe said it is likewise extending payment due dates for postpaid customers to account for disruptions caused by the rains. The telco is also mobilizing a donation drive with Ayala Foundation, allowing subscribers to donate their Globe Rewards points to support relief efforts. /pai
