Medan Police Officer's Wife Dies by Gunshot, Internal Affairs Investigates
A police officer's wife was found dead from a gunshot at her home in Medan, Indonesia. Internal Affairs has launched an investigation, focusing on the husband's service weapon as a key element in uncovering the full circumstances of the incident.
The Professional and Security Division (Propam) of the North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumut) is investigating IH, a police officer from the Medan Sunggal Police Station, following the death of his wife, L, who allegedly took her own life using her husband's firearm. Head of Public Relations for the North Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Pol Ferry Walintukan, confirmed that the victim was the wife of a police officer serving at the Medan Sunggal Police Station, Polrestabes Medan. "Yes, she is the wife of a police officer serving at the Sunggal Police Station, Polrestabes Medan," Ferry said when contacted by CNNIndonesia.com on Monday (August 3rd). Ferry explained that Propam is delving into various aspects related to the incident that led to L's death. "Propam is still investigating, we are still exploring. The husband is still being examined. The examination process is ongoing." He added that the North Sumatra Regional Police have also received the results of forensic laboratory examinations regarding the cause of L's death. Based on these results, the victim was declared to have died from suicide using her husband's firearm. "The results from our forensic laboratory indicate it was indeed suicide, a suicide occurred," Ferry stated. Previously, L, a 35-year-old woman, was found dead at her home in the Bumi Asri Complex, Cinta Damai Village, Medan Helvetia District, Medan City, on Sunday (August 2nd).
