One Survivor from Capsized Virgo Ship Evacuated to Syamsuddin Noor Airport

A survivor from the capsized Virgo Transport 8 ship in the Java Sea has been evacuated by air. The cargo ship capsized due to bad weather early on September 13th, and search operations are still ongoing. The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) evacuated Mia Melinda, a 28-year-old woman, via helicopter to Syamsuddin Noor Airport in Banjarmasin. She was the first survivor to arrive in the city by air. After landing, Melinda was immediately referred to the RS Lanud Syamsuddin Noor hospital. She is the 87th survivor from the Virgo Transport 8, which capsized and sank due to bad weather early Sunday morning. So far, 114 victims from the Virgo Transport 8 have been reported evacuated, with six confirmed deceased. According to Indonesian Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, three ships have docked at Trisakti Port in Banjarmasin, carrying 86 passengers. However, 129 passengers and crew are still missing, and search operations continue. Purwagandhi has appealed for public support and prayers for the swift discovery of the missing individuals. Basarnas Chief, Air Marshal TNI Mohammad Syafii, stated that bad weather is currently the most likely cause of the accident.
