Vietnam Unveils Long-Term Vision to Become Highly Developed Socialist Nation by 2130

The Vietnamese government has unveiled an ambitious long-term vision to become a highly developed socialist nation by 2130, as announced at a national conference disseminating the key contents of Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW on renewing the national development model. This signifies the long-term direction of the nation's strategy under its one-party system, aiming for modernization and development within a socialist framework. The vision is set in stages, with the primary goal of substantially completing the transition to a resilient, innovative, humane, sustainable, and integrated development model by 2035. This includes establishing high-performance, innovative economic models; comprehensive, inclusive, and sustainable social development models; culturally distinctive and humane models of cultural and human development; modern, smart, sustainable, and climate-resilient ecological development models; and modern, self-reliant national defense and security models. Furthermore, by 2045, Vietnam aims to become a developed, high-income country driven by knowledge, science, technology, innovation, green growth, the circular economy, strategic self-reliance, and deep international integration. The national economy will master key strategic technologies, while society will strive for order, safety, civilization, harmony, and prosperity. Culture and people are positioned as the country's intrinsic strength and foundation for national development. By the ultimate target year of 2130, Vietnam is envisioned to rank among Asia's leading green and innovation-driven economies and serve as a foremost smart manufacturing hub. It will hold a significant position in the global order in terms of knowledge, technology, economy, national defense, and security, aiming for an equitable, inclusive, and happy society with a strong cultural identity. This long-term vision can be interpreted as a response to Vietnam's complex international landscape, particularly its relationship with China, and the challenge of balancing economic growth with social harmony domestically. The grand objectives set forth under the one-party system underscore a strong will to improve people's lives and enhance the nation's international standing.
