NUG's Mandalay PDF chief Ko Wanna Aung arrested in Mongla

Ko Wanna Aung, the Mandalay Region People's Defence Force (PDF) chief of the National Unity Government (NUG), was arrested in the Mongla region controlled by the National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA) a few days ago, according to sources close to the matter. (Ko Wanna Aung is also a People's Representative from Tatayoo Township.) One of Ko Wanna Aung's associates said that after his wife was arrested by the military in Kyaukme, Eastern Shan State, Ko Wanna Aung, who remained in Mongla, was arrested. "His wife went to Kyaukme to do Kpay work, and on her return, the military security forces conducted checks and interrogations, so Ko Wanna Aung remained in Mongla. I heard that he was arrested," the associate said. A member of the revolutionary forces in Mandalay Region also said that he heard Ko Wanna Aung was arrested by the NDAA on July 24, but the situation after the arrest is still unknown. There are also reports that the Mongla armed group (NDAA) has handed over Ko Wanna Aung to the military. Ko Wanna Aung is also a People's Representative from Tatayoo Township for the National League for Democracy (NLD) party.
