Cambodia Seizes Nearly 300kg of Smuggled, Substandard Fish Paste via Waterway

Authorities in Angkore Boray district, Takeo province, in collaboration with specialized officials, conducted an operation to intercept and suppress the case of transporting smuggled goods via waterway. Nearly 300 kilograms of substandard fish paste were seized and immediately incinerated to protect the health and safety of the citizens regarding food. The operation took place on the afternoon of August 3, 2026, led by Mr. Kong Anan, Governor of Angkore Boray district and Chairman of the district's administrative unity command. This was carried out in cooperation between the district's administrative unity command forces, the Takeo provincial K.B.B. branch, and the Bakdai border checkpoint's Customs and Excise Department. According to the report, the operation was conducted at Canal No. 04, located in Phnom Borey village, Prek Toal commune, Angkore Boray district, Takeo province. The seized substandard fish paste, identified as smuggled goods, totaled 49 boxes, equivalent to 274 kilograms. Following the seizure, specialized officials took immediate measures to incinerate the evidence in accordance with procedures and current laws. The Angkore Boray district administration stated that authorities will continue to cooperate closely with relevant units to suppress all smuggling offenses and illegal goods transportation of all types, aiming to ensure and better protect the well-being of the citizens.
