Vietnam Proposes National Digital Governance Platform for Data-Led Public Administration

The proposed national digital governance platform is envisioned to create a unified digital management space linking central and local authorities. It aims to enhance administrative efficiency and transparency by clearly identifying the responsible agency for every assigned task, along with its implementation deadline, expected outputs, progress updates, delay warnings, and accountability. This initiative is among the six priorities for implementing Resolution No. 57 set by the Communist Party of Vietnam's Politburo, underscoring the government's commitment to embedding digital transformation into the core of national administration. Examples like Hanoi's optimization of digital transformation to benefit citizens and businesses suggest a nationwide rollout is anticipated. Vietnam has experienced rapid economic growth in recent years, accompanied by accelerated investment in digitalization. The banking sector, in particular, is advancing digitalization while simultaneously strengthening its anti-fraud shield. Against this backdrop, promoting digitalization in public administration is expected not only to improve citizens' convenience but also to streamline national operations and bolster international competitiveness. Under Vietnam's one-party system, government decisions tend to be implemented swiftly. However, addressing challenges such as data privacy, security, and the digital divide that may arise with advancing digitalization will be crucial.
